A Week in My Life

Data Visualization

2020.3 | Class Project | 6 Weeks | drawing + p5.js

The first project for my data visualization course is to make a data visualization about myself. In the following four weeks, I received about 6 emails every day that contained a form which have six questions:

On the scale of 1-10, how tired are you?

On the scale of 1-10, how hungry are you?

What did you drink since the last check-in?

How many friends did you meet since the last check-in?

How many hours did you study since the last check-in?

How much battery power is left on your iPhone?

I got 144 responses in total and started the first part of the project: drawing. I first drew out 9 ideas for my drawing visualization.

After talking with my professor, I chose to continue my planet idea and I drew my final drawing in the following week. I used pencils to sketch, and used markers, sharpie, and pens to fill the color.

After presenting the drawings, we started to use p5.js to code our visualization. This time, we had to choose a design from another classmate, apply our own data to this design, and code it on OpenProcessing.

I decided to go along with my classmate Deborah’s design. I think this visualization had an impressive visual design. This one was also a challenging one to recreate in p5.js. But I like to take a challenge.

This is my final p5.js version for this project, enjoy.
